Veteran film and TV actor Nicholas Pryor, whose screen credits include "Beverly Hills, 90210," "General Hospital" and "Risky Business," has died. He was 89.
His agent, Susan Tolar Walters, said in a Wednesday statement to USA TODAY that Pryor died of cancer Oct. 7.
Over his nearly 70-year career, Pryor appeared on several soap operas, including NBC's "Another World" in 1964 and CBS' "The Nurses" in the '60s. In the late '90s and early 2000s, he portrayed Victor Collins, the father of Dr. Kevin Collins (played by Jon Lindstrom), on "General Hospital" and its spinoff "Port Charles."
Another one of his most recognizable TV roles was also in the 1990s, when he played the chancellor of the fictional California University on "Beverly Hills, 90120."
Pryor is survived by his wife Christina Belford, daughter Stacey Pryor and grandchildren Auguste and Avril Bas.

Lindstrom announced Pryor's death Tuesday on social media, writing, "It is my solemn task to announce the passing of the great Nicholas Pryor. Nick was an Actor's actor, and an exceptional friend. He passed on October 7, 2024, surrounded by loving family."
Lindstrom listed some of Pryor's most famous co-stars, including Tom Cruise ("Risky Business"), Robert Downey Jr. ("Less Than Zero"), Jack Nicholson ("Hoffa"), Kurt Russell ("Executive Decision") and Ewan McGregor ("Doctor Sleep)."
"He starred on #Broadway and delivered terrific work in Film and TV for over 60 years. But to me, he was my friend. One of the best I've ever had," Lindstrom continued. "He was a mentor, a sounding board, a trusted confidant, and even a father-figure beyond, yes, playing my own father on #GH and #PortCharles. And he was one of the funniest people you could hope to spend time with over a bottle of good wine and a great meal.
"I will miss him terribly, as will his beautiful wife Christina, his daughter Stacey, and his two grandchildren, Gus and Avril. R.I.P."
